Fall is Speeding By

Fall is speeding by and there is much to be thankful for on Thanksgiving weekend. While I am not great at adding to my blog, it has nothing to do with all the excitement we have had this fall.
Fall has been good to us with increased business in the store and on the internet.

Our fall fabrics are selling through nicely and our internet business is hot hot hot. We love making new friends from all over the country and the world as we ship out the orders each day. We now have a full time person doing our order processing and shipping. Her name is Elizabeth and she is extremely efficient. She is a huge help to me as she keeps up with all the details so I can be less involved and focus on other things.

Our gallery continues to grow. We are now over 200 garments on our two galleries. The dressmakers keep bringing me new things each month. I love to see the patterns made up in the flesh. We have a lot of fun in the store designing the samples. It usually ends up being a team creation.

Mid October the Asheville Quilt Guild hosted Kaffe Fassett in town for two days of workshops and lectures. We helped at his book signing and his classes by providing the merchandise. It was great fun to meet him and Brandon. These two guys could not have more talent and be more
gracious about sharing their knowledge and expertise with all of us. We had the joy of showing Kaffe our children's clothes (made from his fabric) that were featured in Creative Needle. It was a very exciting photo spread and the dresses looked great. He was excited to see his fabrics used in another way. What fun we had for two days. If you ever get the chance to take a class or hear a lecture by Kaffe Fassett, jump at the opportunity. You can learn so much from listening to his point of view.

The next week after Kaffe I was at the Houston Quilt Market shopping for spring fabrics. We found loads of beautiful batiks and cottons. Next spring we will introduce a line of Japanese cottons that we are really thrilled to have. They will arrive at the store in February. One is more beautiful than the next.

November started with our three day workshop sewing with Linda Lee from Sewing Workshop and Louise Cutting from Cutting Line Designs. We held this workshop in a hotel ballroom. Twenty eight women from as far away as California had the joy of sewing with help from our two guest teachers for three days. We had loads of fun with all the things we learned and accomplished. It is always nice to meet our fellow sewing enthusiasts from around the country. Everyone enjoyed it so much that we agreed to do meet again next year at the same time. We are now taking deposits for next year's workshop if you would like to come.

So you can see why fall is racing by. I look forward to sewing this weekend and finishing another sample for the store. Hope you get some time from all your family celebration to complete a project also. Happy Sewing Joyce
