Back from Market in New York and Houston
I have just come home from a nine day trip to shop in New York and Houston. The New York show was a debut show for this venue. There were many of our most popular vendors showing their wares for spring. It is always fun to shop for fabric. Along with fabric stores, there were many new up and coming independent designers shopping for the same fabrics. I really hope this show becomes an annual event as it is great fun to be in New York city. When I finished in market I was able to work in some of the local showrooms that were not represented at the show. I also got a chance to do a little shopping in some of the better department stores to see if we saw any new inspirations.
After New York, I was off to Houston to work the Quilt Market. Most of the vendors who do cottons and rayons were at the Houston show. We also were on the hunt for new notions or ideas. I found tons of wonderful cottons and lots of beautiful batiks. We will be receiving them all next spring. We have programmed out the receipts so there are constant new arrivals in every category. I also had the pleasure of meeting Kaffe Fassett. He seems so normal for someone so talented.
As always once we go to market I can't wait for spring receipts to start arriving. January and February are always brightened with the arrival of new soft colors and spring textures or prints. They make winter bearable. Hope you are all enjoying the shift to fall sewing now that the weather is changing. Happy Sewing, Joyce
