Check out the New Fabric on our Site.

There are these elves in a house in east Asheville. They are very nice elves as they are the worker elves who install lots of my merchandise on our website. I have been behind on getting all the new fabrics photographed until about three weeks ago. I took two hundred pictures one week and now the elves have lots of things to install. I love going on the site and find they have been working. Many of those fabrics are showing up on the site. I would imagine the elves will not finish for another few days, but you can start finding new things on www.waechters.com.
I have another batch of pictures to take. Hopefully that will get done this next week. Enjoy discovering all the new fall offerings. They are beautiful. I certainly enjoy stroking them as I walk through the store. Have fun and Happy fall. Joyce

Coming to Work is Wonderful!!!!!

I love to come to work. There are many reasons why I feel that way. I work with a really fabulous bunch of women. They are all good at what they do and they are happy to be here. Not to mention they are fun. I love to open the door each day to my charming vintage store front. I really enjoy all the lovely customers that we have. Many are very interesting and most are fun.

This season I especially love to come to work, because the store is gloriously full of beautful things. I am constantly planning samples for the dressmakers to make. We hang samples in the store so people can see what our patterns and fabrics really look like in a finished project. My mind is running wild with all the possibilities of samples we can make. I have to really censor my creative juices or I will be using up the inventory. Karen is making up shawls and scarves for us to sell this holiday season. We came up with so many beautiful combinations that I had to say stop! We could have done several more with all our lovely velvets, burnouts and silks.

The wools in our inventory are so rich and luscious. It would be easy to make up skirts or tops in 25 or 30 options. We have loads of dupioni colors and Vietnamese Silks. They are incredibly luxurious because of their color and sheen.

The fabrics are so nice that the girls banter over who is going to get to sample each bolt or reroll the ones from tubes to bolts. I love it when they are that excited. So I come back to why I love to come to work. I work with wonderful people and I sell beautiful things. Who wouldn't love to come to work. Joyce

I'm Off to the Fair

It is about to be Fair Week for me. I am working madly so I can take off a few days and work harder at a volunteer job. I have this crazy idea (given to me by a long heritage in my family) of helping create the Flower and Garden Competitions and Displays at the Mountain State Fair here in North Carolina. I will be spending at least five days on my feet on pavement putting together two flower shows and overseeing their judging. Fortunately, my co-chair and I have helpers from the Buncombe County Master Gardeners.

The part you want to know about all this is about my preparation to take these days off and do community service. I have just completed photographing more than 200 new fabrics and trims to go onto our web. They will be installed next week if all goes well.

We are placing orders for Holiday gift items to arrive the end of the month. They will also go onto the web. Now you can come in and buy a cute holiday gift or hostess gift while shopping for your sewing needs.

I also hope to complete the fourth quarter newsletter in the next few days. It can get posted on the web and will include our newest class roster and all the info of things coming to our store. We will be discussing a few fashion trends we see and have lots of fabrics for. There is no reason you can't be as up to date with your fashion sewing trends as the major fashion stores are showing this season. Check out capes, white blouses, dresses, and lots of things in velvet. We have already sold out some of the colors of velvet we just received this last month. Wools are also disappearing at an alarming rate. It should be an elegant fall.

Have a great week while I am volunteering and happy sewing. Joyce
